Monet Sells For A Whopping $41.4 Million at Christie’s Last Night

7:05 AM — According to The New York Times, the weak dollar made last night’s auction at Christie’s irresistible to Europeans, as they accounted for 52 percent of the buyers.

And this was no ordinary auction, as although just shy of a quarter of the works failed to sell, the evening broke record prices, with the sale of a Monet landscape fetching a whopping $41.4 million.
