Welcome To “Let’$ Talk Money…”

Let me ask you a question — how much money have you got?

I’m talking the whole caboodle– real estate, 401K, IRAs, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, CDs, MoneyMarket — even those little tuckies under the table.

What does it all add up to?

One more question — how’s business?

It doesn’t matter whether you are the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, or running a small shop with one or two workers, or baking and selling cookies out of your home — how are you doing?

I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that my email won’t be flooded with people responding with their full names and giving me an itemized list of their net worth.

It’s the last great taboo.

In a world where people wear their underwear on the outside of their clothes — and even less on the Internet — it’s just not respectful to ask about money.

Which can sometimes make it difficult to maneuver in the world of business and investments, when people tend to talk in generalities, and not specifics.

That’s where this forum comes in.

My intent is to shine the spotlight on everyone from a mom who shares secrets to getting the best deals to feed her family at the grocery store, to investment groups letting us be a fly on the wall, to learning how to trade options, to booming businesses or struggling businesses — from Main Street to Wall Street — together we’re going to learn what they’re doing right and what mistakes they’ve made that we can learn from.

This blog will cover anything and anyone business-related from smalltown Hull, Massachusetts, to midtown Manhattan.

In the beginning, I will pay particular attention to the businesses along “the Main Avenue” in Hull, a small waterfront community on the South Shore of Massachusetts, whose location relies heavily on locals and seasonal visitors to its beautiful Nantasket Beach to support the local business community.

But it will not be exclusive to Hull…

If you have a business, an investment group, or just a tip or two to help others survive in this economy — drop me an email at cathleen2222@aol.com.

Most importantly, this blog is not about me — it’s about all of us. I make no pretense to be an expert in business, although I do tip my hat to my mother for teaching me some very good investment lessons early in life.

This will be a learning adventure for all of us — so feel free to sit back, enjoy the ride, and jump in and participate any time you wish.

To put a spin on the words of one of my favorite childhood books by Dr. Seuss, “Oh, The Places We Will Go!”

So, let’s talk money… and, hopefully, make some, too!

Cathleen
