Microsoft Withdraws Unsolicited Bid for Yahoo; AOL & Google Rumored to be Entering Picture

If you type “Microsoft” or “Yahoo” into Google’s search engine this morning — you’ll find lots of stories regarding Microsoft withdrawing its unsolicited bid for Yahoo over the weekend.

One of the more interesting stories I’ve found comes from The Times Online, UK indicating that AOL has already contacted Microsoft.

Though I’m not a shareholder of Yahoo, I can feel the pain many Yahoo holders must be feeling this morning. However, all may not be lost. According to a story in this morning’s San Jose Mercury News, Yahoo may be considering outsourcing its search advertising to Google. The article says Yahoo employees expect such an arrangement to be announced this week.
